Keep Striving for What Benefits You

Like life, we do not get success and fulfillment in a silver platter; they are rewards for our skills, hardwork, and studies and things that are good for us. This is true in personal development, career advancement, and relationships; nothing opens doors and creates improvement like ongoing effort.

1. The Power of Persistence

It means fighting for what is best for you and being determined to fulfill all of your goals. Despite the challenges that arise, do not let them deter you from your path. Rather, they should be lessons that improve your game while toughening your spirit.

For example, Thomas Edison, the light bulb inventor, attempted over a thousand times and finally succeeded. Upon being asked about his failures he famously said, “I have not failed. I have just discovered 10,000 ways that do not work.” His perseverance resulted in one of the greatest inventions in human history.

Another example is the author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, who was rejected time and again before her book was published. If she had quit, the world wouldn’t have one of its most beloved book series. And this just goes to show that you need to keep trying no matter how many times you fail before you find that success.

2. Realizing What is Really Good for You

And not everything that looks good is good for you. It is so important to review your decisions and see if they match your principles, drives and long-term perspective. Do not let temporary satisfaction lead you away from what will lead you to enduring growth and happiness.

Somebody might get offered a high-paid job that does not ignite any passion in them. However, even if the salary is good, will it make you happy 5, 10 or 20 years down the line? Some people have quit their high-paying jobs to pursue their passion, showing that success is not about the money but about working on something that is important to them.

3. Self-Discipline and Hard Work

Success is not realized overnight. It takes self-discipline, patience and a willingness to work hard. Another thing is to develop a growth mindset — the one that takes its time learning and improving oneself — which also keeps you focused on what matters.

Michael Jordan and Cristiano Ronaldo — two of the greatest athletes in history — are distinctions of this. (Best of all, Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, only to later lather harder and become one of the best players in history!) Ronaldo is an extraordinary player, but he also is someone whose sheer work ethic gets him mountains of praise, and the results speak for themselves.

Awareness helps you identify and reinforce positive behaviors needed for long-term success, for instance forming good habits, being consistent, and going the extra mile.

4. Flow with The Way of Things

People whom you associate with every day, influence you a lot. Be around people who would motivate you, who would inspire you, and who would support your vision. Negative influences can zap your energy and draw away your focus, and positive influences urge you to reach for your highest self.

In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill advocates for the idea of a “Mastermind Group” — a group of people like you that stick together, lift each other up, and help each other rise. So, quote me — For business, education, and personal growth — The right environment is extremely important for success.

5. Welcome change and continue to move ahead

Indeed, this part of the journey often requires transformation—of mind, of habits, or even of location. Stay flexible, learn from the past, and keep pushing ahead. Stepping out of your comfort zone allows you to accept new opportunities.

Steve Jobs was even fired from Apple, the company he helped co-found. Failing to triumph and choosing instead to build companies such as Pixar and NeXT, those failures paved the way for the eventual triumphant return to Apple when they were more powerful than ever. His willingness to adapt reshaped the tech industry and ensured his legacy.

Final Thoughts

You got this, be disciplined, keep going, and never stop dreaming. What you put in today lays the groundwork for what you achieve tomorrow

Wherever you are in life, and whatever situation you’re facing: strive, fight, refuse to accept less than the best for yourself.
